Stamboom-Boek: your family tree as a book

Turn a GEDCOM file into a designed family book in Word, with photos and records.

What is Stamboom-Boek?

Stamboom-Boek turns a GEDCOM export (.ged) from your family tree software into a designed family book. The result is a Word file (.docx) that you can edit afterwards or convert to PDF. There is nothing to retype. It works with Aldfaer, RootsMagic, Haza-21PRO-GEN, Gramps, Family Tree Maker and MyHeritage Family Tree Builder, among others. The website itself is in Dutch.

Three editions

Deluxe is in full colour, with its own tint per generation and family line, coloured bars, frames and decoration; best on a colour printer or at a print shop. Mix is in greyscale or one chosen accent colour, with the same layout; photos and records stay in colour. Simpel is black and white with thin borders only and no charts; photos and records stay. It is cheap to print and the easiest to edit.

What you choose

Starting person, number of generations, and ancestors or descendants; whether to include photos and records (with a maximum number of photos per person); sources and endnotes; titles such as Dr. or Jhr.; and paper size, edition and book details. People without death data can be shown as "N.N. (privé)" instead of by their real name.

How it works

Export a GEDCOM file from your family tree software, preferably with the ANSI character set so accented letters are preserved. To include photos and records, zip the media folder together with the .ged file, because a GEDCOM file itself contains no images. Upload the file, choose the edition, size and starting person, enter the book details and generate the book.

Your data

Your file and photos are used only to create your book, are not sent to external services and are deleted automatically within 24 hours of upload. Please save the downloaded Word file yourself.

Free tools

On stamboom-boek.nl you can have your GEDCOM file checked for free without an account (counts and possible issues, without showing names or content) and use the relationship calculator to see how two people in your tree are related.
